Author Programs

Liza Frenette is available for a variety of author programs to talk about the writing process, editing, revision, research, interviewing, character development, a sense of place in writing, weaving historical characters or local lore into fiction, the importance of facts even in fiction. She uses her experience and education as a journalist for newspapers, magazines and online writing, in combination with her experiences as an author, to present these programs. She is also known for writing about the outdoors, particularly the Adirondacks where she grew up, and Cape Cod, where she spends time each year.

She has presented programs for students, given author talks and hosted writing workshops in the following settings:

  • School libraries

  • Public libraries

  • College classes in literature and writing

  • Children and pre-teen organizations

  • Writing workshops

  • Nature groups

  • Young writer programs

  • Author panel discussions

She is recognized for helping new or experienced writers find stories within themselves and helping them emerge on the page.

She is a member of the national Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and Children’s Literature Connection, and continually takes part in professional development writing workshops herself.  She is the author of four published books, and thousands of articles for newspapers, magazines and online sites.  Her work has garnered state, national and international writing awards. She has also edited several books. Liza’s poetry, fiction and prose has been included in several anthologies as well.
