Praise for Liza's School Presentations
John Ohst
Assistant Professor, English SUNY Canton, Canton, NY:
"Liza visited our campus to speak to Children's Literature and Creative Writing classes. We found her presentation to be very informative and thought-provoking. She has a low-key pace of delivery that makes her audience feel at ease. She made a strong connection with the students. She covered each topic thoroughly and clearly, yet with a strong personal touch so that the students could identify with her thoughts and feelings as they listened to her. Liza has a deep and compassionate concern for people in general and young people in particular, which clearly is manifested when she speaks to them."

Julianne Port
Library Media Specialist, Tecler Elementary School:
"Thank you very much for visiting the students at Tecler Elementary School. They really enjoyed your interactive program and your books. You know exactly how to work with and talk to students and how to engage them in your presentation. It was wonderful to see them using their imaginations to create a story. The 5th grade students (also) felt very honored to have lunch with you and still talk about your visit! We have a lot of great memories from your time with us."

Language Arts Coordinator, L.P. Quinn Elementary School:
"Liza has a wonderful way of relating to the children. She spoke to them on their level and aptly kept their attention. The activities she chose were curriculum appropriate and enticing to the children. Her workshops varied with the grade level, ability level and appropriate attention span of the children in our elementary school."
Sarah Bencze
Adirondack Curriculum Project Board Member
Elementary Teacher, Tupper Lake, NY:
"As a board member of the Adirondack Curriculum Project (www.adk.curriculum.org) I have found Liza Frenette's books to be most useful for students. "Soft Shoulders" is appropriate for second graders studying about geography; "Dangerous Falls Ahead" can be used by third-graders to study rivers, and "Dead End" fits fourth-grader's study of mountains. We did creative projects on rivers as a result of reading "Dangerous Falls Ahead," such as making canoes, lean-tos, paper mache waterfalls and even the Lost Channel creatures she imagined in her story. Students learned about the river hermit Noah John Rondeau. From this experience we started a schoolwide Adirondack Day with authors, musicians, outdoor guides and storytellers. Liza had previously done a schoolwide presentation, and this time she came back and took students down to the Raquette River to help them with journaling the sights, sounds and smells around them."
Darci D'Ercole-McGinn, Book Fair Coordinator:
"Thank you Liza for coming to our Elsmere Book Fair night. Your presentation to our students and parents was wonderful. We loved the way you were able to speak to both audiences, and keep everyone's interest. Your storytelling and reading of your books was delightful and masterfully crafted to give our audiences the full view of all the adventures of the characters. In addition, we loved the peek inside the author's life in the creation of each of these stories. We would love to have you back at any time."
Donna Gwin, Librarian:
"Liza Frenette was our local visiting author for the 16th annual William Kennedy Junior Writers' Week celebration at PS 16 in Albany. Ms Frenette delighted students and faculty with her lively assemblies. She came prepared for her assemblies with an Irish walking stick, a large beautiful quilt, and pictures of roadway signs (all taken from her 3 books.) The assemblies were very interactive and students had ample time to ask Ms Frenette many questions. After Ms Frenette's visit, many students asked to borrow her books from our school library. She was very generous with her time and our students shared a very special lunchtime with our author."
